Ingredients
8 cups of water
2-3 tablespoons loose tea, or 6-9 tea bags
Optional, 2 tablespoons dried herbs or 2 large sprigs of fresh herbs.
Sweetner if desired: honey or agave
Method:
Wash a large glass container (up to 1 gallon in size) thoroughly to avoid contamination.
Add cold filtered water and tea into the glass container and cover with a lid.
Place in the direct sun, either outdoors or next to the window.
Steep in the sun for 2-4 hours and if needed, move the jar occasionally, so it stays in the sun.
If you used loose leaf tea, strain the tea into another jar or pitcher. If using tea bags remove tea bags.
Add desired sweetener while it’s still warm. Stir.
If you want to enjoy it immediately, serve over ice and store the rest in the fridge. Drink within 1-2 days.
Recipe notes:
Sun tea will probably taste more mellow in flavor than tea made with boiling water or cold brew methods. It is less likely to be bitter, but some bitterness is...
