This morning I woke up at 5am.
I did a 20 minute meditation.
And began my daily journaling practice.
By 6:15, my boys started to make their way out into the world.
I fed them air fried french toast sticks only to find 3 out of the 4 sticks I made for my youngest still sitting on his plate because "I got the wrong kind and they were too cinnaminnie"
Helped them get ready for school only to find my entire bathroom sink filled with a rainbow of different color toothpastes.
Spent 30 minutes searching for long pants for my oldest because he thinks that wearing a t-shirt and shorts 2 days before December in New England is a totally appropriate outfit to wear.
Let my first dog out twice because she had to make her presence known to a local neighborhood squirrel that she clearly doesn't like.
Looked around my house to see the unorganized chaos that takes a toll on my mental and emotional wellbeing.
Found out that my less than year old washer is not draining properly so I now have to add a phone call to samsung warrantee department to my never ending to do list.
Brought the kids to the bus stop.
Came home to then have to let my other dog out, feed them, give them fresh water and start the process of making myself look presentable for my 1:1 calls today.
Searched for my hairbrush underneath the mountain of folded laundry I threw on my bed while searching for pants for my oldest.
And once the chaos of Monday morning subsided, while I was straightening my hair, I kept on thinking how much responsibility I have even BEFORE I start my work day.
Many of you might be thinking:
"but you have a full hour of self care when you wake up each morning."
But I don't look at that hour of meditation, journaling and intention setting as self care, I look at it as a non-negotiable practice that allows me to show up each and everyday.
I would not be capable of handling the stress of maintaining a household, managing a business, and just being a fucking human being.
I am not in anyway bashing or belitting entrepenuers that don't have responsibilites outside of their business such as raising a family, But I am saying it's much more challenging building a business when you have responsibilties outside of the business.
When you have humans to raise.
When you have dogs to let out 37 times a day.
When you not only have to take care of yourself, but you need to take care of other people.
The women that decides to build a business for themselves when they already have their plates full, really needs to fucking want it.
I decided to start this series because I want to share what I know.
I want an outlet to share my thoughts, my story, and my vision.
and most importantly, I want to other ambitious, bad ass moms to know that you are not alone.
Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.
